Tour Features

La Roma Norte (north) is one of the foremost preferred districts for locals as well foreigners that look for a new place to live in the busiest Mexican capital, perhaps because within the fuss of the metropolis, La Roma maintains the same welcoming, cultured, artistic, intellectual vibe it’s had since the beginning of the 90’s.

On the Free Tour of La Roma you will navigate through cafes, galleries, boutique shops, parks, and cultural centers that inhabit old, ornate buildings many restored after a major earthquake in 1985. Feel the magical essence that distinguishes this unique area from the rest of the city and unveil the quirks and legends it holds!

The best over!

5.00
Our tour guide was a real professional expert who related to us the history and landmarks of the neighborhood and extended within the country total historic era. Manelo did a great work in providing information that has such an impact which will last in our memories as a cinematographic screen for any later research. Thank you for the Roma tour! Free Tours - How does it work?

What is a Free Tour?
Free Tours are walks provided by local guides without requesting any upfront payments. They are a great way to explore a city or learn about a certain subject no matter what your budget is.
Are Free Tours really free?
Yes, they are completely free until you decide otherwise. Guides very much appreciate donations of any amounts at the end of the tour but it's completely voluntary to do so.
Do you earn commissions from businesses on the tour?
No, we don't. You will generally only visit such establishments if it's part of the experience, like a restaurant on a food tour, and we do not earn commissions from any potential purchases.
Then how do you make money?
Guides solely receive their income through donations from tour guests who thought that the experience was worth paying for. And they share part of those donations with us in some cases to cover the costs of running this platform.
Does free mean lower quality than a paid tour?
Absolutely not, we would argue that it's the opposite. Guides on our platform are so certain their tour experience is great enough they are willing to offer it for free, knowing most people will be happy to contribute towards it.

Meeting point

The tour will start around Plaza de La Romita. Exact location information will be provided after a booking is confirmed.

Additional info

Please consider that each tour guide personalizes the route based on the group dynamics. The walking tours aim to provide a general introduction to the city, so the group will not enter any buildings save for particular exceptions.

FAQ

How do I arrive to La Roma area?
Travelers staying at Condesa, Doctores or La Roma are close enough to reach the meeting point on foot. Travelers coming from the Historic Center or other neighborhoods may consider using a private taxi, or buying a transportation card at a metro station to ride the public "Metrobus." Keep in mind that some metro lines in the city are currently closed, so planning ahead is recommended. In general, travelers are advised to estimate that it will take between 30 and 40 minutes to reach the meeting point.
Do we go inside each building?
In order to see all the main attractions during the walk, most buildings are seen on the outside. You can certainly ask your guide for further information regarding entrance fees and opening hours if you wish to go inside a building after the tour is over.
Do I need to make a booking?
Yes. It's mandatory to make a booking in order to keep the group sizes manageable, provide a better experience for both the guests and guides and to receive the meeting point details via e-mail.
Can I make a booking for a larger group?
To keep the group sizes manageable, we are only able to accept bookings of 6 people or less per group.
Where does the tour start?
The tour starts within the area shown in the meeting point map above. The exact location will be specified via email 3 days prior to the tour.
