Free Tours - How does it work?
- What is a Free Tour?
- Free Tours are walks provided by local guides without requesting any upfront payments. They are a great way to explore a city or learn about a certain subject no matter what your budget is.
- Are Free Tours really free?
- Yes, they are completely free until you decide otherwise. Guides very much appreciate donations of any amounts at the end of the tour but it's completely voluntary to do so.
- Do you earn commissions from businesses on the tour?
- No, we don't. You will generally only visit such establishments if it's part of the experience, like a restaurant on a food tour, and we do not earn commissions from any potential purchases.
- Then how do you make money?
- Guides solely receive their income through donations from tour guests who thought that the experience was worth paying for. And they share part of those donations with us in some cases to cover the costs of running this platform.
- Does free mean lower quality than a paid tour?
- Absolutely not, we would argue that it's the opposite. Guides on our platform are so certain their tour experience is great enough they are willing to offer it for free, knowing most people will be happy to contribute towards it.

- Coyoacan is in the south of Mexico City, so guests staying in the Historical Center, La Roma, Doctores or Condesa areas will need around 30 minutes to arrive to Coyoacan. Most guests use private taxi options since public transit options are not so convenient in Coyoacan.
- Do I need to make a booking?
- Yes. It's mandatory to make a booking in order to keep the group sizes manageable, provide a better experience for both the guests and guides and to receive the meeting point details via e-mail.
- Can I make a booking for a larger group?
- To keep the group sizes manageable, we are only able to accept bookings of 6 people or less per group.
- Where does the tour start?
- The tour starts within the area shown in the meeting point map above. The exact location will be specified via email 3 days prior to the tour.
